No one tells our story better than our clients. Sandra is the COO at a company in Sacramento that employs 112 people. As an office products supplier, they provide both in-store and delivery service. Here is their story, through Sandra’s eyes.
“It is very important that all our clients be able to access our services, and we’re probably especially sensitive to this because we have so many government contracts. Not only do government agencies have mandates that are more strictly enforced than the private sector, we also wanted to avoid any potential citations or fines.
“We found that the variations between State and Federal access guidelines created conflicts, so we called ADA Compliance Consultants to help us out. Our inspector obviously knew what he was doing – he looked at things we would never have considered. For example, we were thinking primarily of clients in wheelchairs; our inspector took sight impairments, hearing impairments, and other types of disabilities into his assessment.
“The report I was given was beyond detailed – the report listed everything he looked at, including those things that were in compliance. Then, for every item that was out of compliance, the report gave the required specs plus where we were at compared to what the law requires. Nothing was overlooked!
“Next, they provided me with a list of contractors who were pre-screened by ADA Compliance, and reviewed their report with the contractor directly. They were available to the contractor by phone throughout the construction, and then conducted a post-inspection to ensure changes were made correctly before I paid the contractor. ADA Compliance offered to oversee the project completely – tempting, but I wanted to really understand the needs of our customers.
“I am confident that our company is not at risk for citations or fines, but most important I know that our business is now accessible to ALL of our clients – something we think is really important for a company based on building relationships.”
